Happy Laetare Sunday!

Happy Laetare Sunday!

Posted on : March 8, 2024

We are God’s handiwork.  “For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them” (Eph 2:10).  Take a moment today and give thanks to God that He has made you.  He has made you so beautifully, with so many gifts.  Give God permission to continue to work with, in and through you so that His kingdom might become visible in this world.

Announcement. Congratulations Ryan!  We are happy to announce that Ryan Arto has petitioned and been called by the Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic for Diaconate Ordination.  It is the responsibility of the Church to present to the Bishop suitable candidates for ordination.  It is the Bishop’s responsibility to weigh the recommendations of those in charge of formation as well as the larger Church community.  Through this notice the members of St. Francis de Sales are given the opportunity to offer their personal input on the suitability of this candidate for ordination either directly to the Bishop or to me as Pastor of the parish.  Your relationship to this man during his years of formation gives your input a special importance.  We ask your prayerful support during these final days of discernment and preparation.  Diaconate Ordination will be April 13, 2024 at 10:00am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.  See you there!

There’s No Place Like Home.  This weekend, come enjoy “The Wizard of Oz” on Friday and Saturday evening, as well as Sunday afternoon.  Our school children have been working so hard over the last few months to make this performance the best it can be.  I am always amazed to see how gifted and talented our youth are in these moments.

Special Thanks!  I want to give special honor and thanks to Diane Mellody for all the hard work she and her crew do to make these musical performances possible.  Since 2007, she has worked diligently to make them a success.  Thank you, Diane, for all the countless hours you give to help our youth realize their gifts and use them for God’s glory in their lives.  This is Diane’s final year as Director of Musicals.  Make sure to give her 17 hugs for her 17 years of service! 😊  Please pray that God will provide and bring someone to St. Francis to help continue the wonderful beauty of the arts!

A blessed Laetare Sunday to all of you!
Fr. Jeremy
