Give Thanks!

Give Thanks!

As they were going, they were cleansed.  And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked Him.”

This gospel message reminds us of the many times we ask God for help throughout our lives.  But how often do we thank God?   Do we thank God as much as we ask for His help?  Out of the ten lepers healed by Jesus, only one returned to give thanks to Him.  Let’s stop right now and give thanks.  There is always reason to be thankful in life.  Give thanks!

Financial Report.  In light of the gospel, I want to stop and give thanks for your care and support both spiritually and financially here at the church.  I am always overwhelmed by how generous you are and how providential God is in our lives.  Please take a moment and review our financial report in the following pages of the bulletin.  Thank you for how you give your time, talent and treasure—especially in ways that aren’t in the spotlight.  God knows your hearts, and I am thankful that you have such good hearts.

Blue Mass.  Next weekend, on October 19 at the 9:00 a.m. Mass, we will be blessing all public safety employees, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, correctional officers, and other EMS personnel, for their dedication and service to the community.  Thank you!

Winter Clothing and Blanket Drive.  Next Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19, SVDP will be collecting winter clothing and blankets.  I honestly love when this happens because it gives me the chance to go through my belongings and get rid of stuff I never use.  But what if this year we give one item away that we love?  It might be the greatest act of love you offer this week.

Holy Hiking.  Don’t forget that we have just a couple more hikes this month on October 18 and 25.  It is great to journey together and take a moment to get some fresh air and pray with God’s word.  Hope to see you there.

Men’s Basketball.  Remember that Men’s basketball is back!  We play on Mondays from 8:30-10:00pm.  Come for fellowship and exercise!  Peace.

I give thanks to God for you,
Fr. Jeremy
