Encourage and Pray!

Encourage and Pray!

Posted on : October 17, 2025

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingly power: proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching. (2 Tim 4:1-2).

Priesthood Sunday. This coming weekend, October 25-26 is Priesthood Sunday for the Diocese of Cleveland. The students from Borromeo Seminary and Saint Mary Seminary will be spending the weekend at different parishes and sharing a short reflection about their life, vocation and seminary experience. We will welcome Jonathan Green, who is from Holy Family in Stow and is currently in Second Theology at St. Mary Seminary. If Priesthood is something that is on your heart, please call the office or email me. I would love to hear your story and help you in your discernment. It took many priests, including Fr. Bline, who were willing to walk with me and encourage me along the way to the doors of the seminary. I am willing to do the same for you or your friend or family member. Just let me know.

Serra Council. This same weekend, the Serrans, who are lay people dedicated to fostering and promoting vocations in our diocese will be present after Mass to answer questions and share information on how we can better support vocations and our seminarians in their journey of formation. Their mission is to promote new priesthood and religious vocations; to support and affirm existing priesthood and religious vocations; and, in doing so, to grow in holiness. Thanks for helping us.

All Souls Mass. On Sunday, November 2, the following weekend, we will celebrate the All Souls Mass at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. We will pray in a special way for all those who have passed away since last All Souls Day. It is one of my favorite liturgies as it is always good to remember those we love and those who loved us. We will have the lighting ceremony after the homily. Be mindful, Mass may take a little longer due to this, but it is worth it! Come pray for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.

Thank you for your many prayers,
Fr. Jeremy
