Siblings’ Day. This past Monday, my sisters Emily and Alliree had our annual Siblings’ Day! It’s an awesome day we started a good while back when things began to get busy in life. It’s a day where we wipe the schedule clean and spend the day together. Usually we go to lunch and visit a shrine or go shopping. This year we went to our Uncle Fr. Dave’s house to visit and got ice cream in Lake Milton. It was a beautiful day. Do you have a Siblings’ Day with your brothers and sisters? I recommend it. It gives you the authentic time you never get to have due to life, family, and normal, daily chaos. If you have had a falling out with your sibling, its time to ask Jesus to heal that relationship and to offer forgiveness. Fr. Leo Patalinghug at the Steubenville Youth Conference last weekend reminded us that we need to forgive others as we are all approaching heaven…“The one you may be having the most trouble with may be sitting right next to you for eternity at the heavenly banquet.” Ask for His grace today and mend those relationships, especially the familial ones.
Jesus’ Grandparents. Just this past week, the Church celebrated the Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandparents of Jesus. In light of this, I want to share the Blessing of Grandparents from the Book of Blessings as it gives us a great reminder of what grandparents and family can be for each other….Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Living signs of God’s presence for others. What a gift grandparents can bring to their family…love…wisdom…gentleness. Each of us can be living signs of God’s presence for others. What an awesome call this is for each of us in this gift called life.
