As the school year ends, we thank God for our teachers and staff at both the day school and PSR programs. Our prayers are with the homeschoolers as well! We love you all and thank you for all the hard work you put forth this year. Summer is a gifted time for recollection and restoration. But at the same time, it is a chance to accomplish projects that need done around the campus. Here are a few to be aware of in the days to come…
Turf Grass Project. Beginning this first week of June, you will notice work being done on the east section of the playground. We will be moving the dinosaur to the east section and installing a new swing set. New turf grass will be installed north of the Memorare Center to give our children a place to play no matter how muddy and dirty it gets. It will also be used for athletics! This was funded by this year’s Night of Giving as well as last year’s Color Run.
Art Room Project. If you didn’t know, our school has been growing and we have unfortunately had to turn some student applicants away. We are working on how to respond to this long term. In the short term, building an art classroom above the old office will enable us to expand in a little way and help us solve some space issues. This is in the planning phase and will be accomplished over the next school year, once we get diocesan approval in the months ahead.
Shrine to the Holy Cross. Perhaps you have seen the J. Williams landscaping team at work pouring sidewalk and building the retention wall on the north side of the church. This summer, as part of an Eagle Scout project, we hope to have a cross and landscaping installed. This will give us a peaceful place to pray and celebrate Mass outside. Providentially, I am working with Henningers to get the altar from Immaculate Conception moved to the shrine location so that we can continue to celebrate Mass on the altar and remember the community of Immaculate Conception in the years to come.
In all of this, please pray that God blesses this work and brings it to completion!
Blessings to you this summer,
Fr. Jeremy
PS Don’t forget that next weekend is Fr. David’s last weekend here. He will preach every Mass and will celebrate his last Mass at 11:00 a.m. on June 7. There will be a reception in the gym afterward.
