A Holy Week Challenge

A Holy Week Challenge

Posted on : April 11, 2025

One fruit of the National Eucharistic Revival has been the invitation to the Walk with One Initiative.  On their official website, this initiative is calling us to do four things: identify, intercede, connect and invite.  Their description is as follows…

Identify. Don’t just pick someone. Ask God whom He wants you to accompany on their journey home to the Church. He will point you to the person He has in mind and open doors for the conversations that need to happen.

Intercede. As soon as the Lord lays someone on your heart, begin to pray for them! Ask God to remove whatever obstacles are making it difficult for this person to draw closer to Christ and His Church. Pray for the grace to be able to accompany them well.

Connect. Look for ways to build a deeper relationship with this person. Get together with them for coffee or lunch. Listen deeply for promptings from the Holy Spirit as you get to know your friend’s joys and struggles. Share with them some of your own.

Invite. Follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit. When the time is right, invite your friend to take a concrete next step in fostering a personal relationship with Jesus and the Church. This might mean joining you for a small group or Mass on Sunday.

I know this is last minute, but I challenge each of you who are reading this to live this out in a special way during Holy Week.  Holy Week is truly a journey with Jesus.  From His entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to the feet washing on Holy Thursday, to His Agony in the Garden and arrest, to His journey with the cross to Golgatha, to His dying on the cross for our sins, to the tomb that He will destroy on the third day!

Invite a friend, a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor on this journey.  Invite just one person for this extraordinary journey of faith here at St. Francis de Sales.  Again, I know this is last minute, but don’t we do all things last minute anyway?  This journey is a life-changer.  Why not change another life on the way?

Let us journey through Holy Week together,
Fr. Jeremy
