For if we live, we live for the Lord!
“Brothers and sisters: None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For this is why Christ died and came to life, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.” Romans 14:7-9
Everything we do, we do for the Lord! Whether it be the Parish Festival that took place last weekend, or the Color Run Fundraiser in the School that took place this past week, our challenge is to do all things for the glory and honor of God. Because if it isn’t for the Lord, who is it for? The goal of our lives is to get to the point that “He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.”
Once this reality happens in our minds and hearts we can begin to surrender our way of thinking and welcome His way of thinking. Instead of us choosing who has value in life, we can turn that task to God. God is the author of all life. We are not the Lord of Lords….Jesus is. What does this ultimately invite us to do? It invites us to a new openness to God’s revelation, God’s teaching, God’s will in our lives. When it is no longer up to us and we leave it up to God, great freedom comes to our hearts. We don’t have to live with the burden of being our own God and making those life-or-death decisions. In letting God lead, we can put that up to God and not us. As Catholic Christians, it is our call to help people get to know who God is in their lives and the beauty of His plan in bringing life and love into the world. Let’s be a people who truly know the Lord and live for the Lord.
Just want you to be aware of a few things coming up in parish life…
Let’s live for the Lord,
Fr. Jeremy
P.S. Thanks to all who made the Parish Festival as well as the Color Run Fundraiser possible. It took many hands. I am grateful for you! This year’s Color Run will benefit the school in purchasing new flooring for the school. Thanks again!
