You are the Light of the World!

You are the Light of the World!

“Your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Matt 5:16. Just last weekend, I saw this lived out when one of our parishioners called me and offered to use his gifts to make our parking lot function well after the snowstorm! Thanks, Bobby Simone for letting your light shine for the glory of God! Here’s a picture he took of his daughter Hannah in front of all the snow he moved.

Catholic Charities. Next Sunday, February 14-15, will be our annual Catholic Charities Appeal. This year’s theme is “Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world.” This year’s theme comes from the words of St. Teresa of Avila, “Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours, yours are the eyes with which He sees compassion on this world, yours are the feet with which He walks to do good, yours are the hands, with which He Blesses all the world.” By giving to Catholic Charities, we help to continue Jesus’ work of serving individuals, families, and communities in need. Thank you for showing care, compassion and support.

Holy Hour for Peace. This week I received a note from the Diocese of Cleveland Office of Worship: “Reflecting on the current climate of fear and polarization, Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, has invited bishops and priests across the US to offer a Holy Hour for Peace. In light of this, we will be offering a Holy Hour for Peace in the Church next Sunday, February 15 at 3:00 p.m. Archbishop Coakley said, “May this Holy Hour be a moment of renewal for our hearts and for our nation. Entrusting our fears and hopes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us ask the Lord to make us instruments of His peace and witnesses to the inherent dignity of every person…Let us pray together, confident that God hears the cry of His people and remains close to all who seek Him.”

Renew our hearts Lord,
Fr. Jeremy
