“Hear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.”
These words of Jesus call us to reflect deep within our hearts. St. Ignatius of Loyola gave a beautiful exercise called the Examen Prayer that helps us to look within each day with God and with gratitude so that we can name what’s going on in our lives. In doing so, we can let God purify those defiled areas of our lives so that we can be free, joy-filled Christians. Check out the Examen Prayer online.
Beginning in September, we will welcome Bob Stegmaier to our parish. He lives in Ellet and is part of the Permanent Diaconate Formation program in our diocese and is entering his 4th year of formation. Part of the formation of our Permanent Deacons is entering into parish life at different parishes and receiving new experiences that will help him grow. Make sure to give him a grand welcome!
We just finished the 2nd week of school. It is a joy to have the life and energy of our children back on campus. While it has been hot outside, now that the school is air-conditioned, our teachers and students can learn in a cool, healthy environment. Someone below is also happy school is back in session! Blaise had a chance to see the kids again. As you can see, he is receiving the love. Our 5th graders took a moment and graced him with love this past week. What a beautiful image of how we are called to live—coming together to love one another. Have a great week!
May God’s peace and joy be with you,
Fr. Jeremy
Ps. Keep an eye out for Fall Fun Dates for Hiking, Kayaking, Motorcycle Rides, and other fun events. Thanks!
