In the gospel, Peter sees Jesus walking on the water and asks to join Him. As he begins to walk on water, the wind and the waves start to crash, and, all of a sudden, Peter is sinking. He cries out, “Lord, save me!” And immediately the Lord reaches out and saves him. “O you of little faith, why did you doubt.” In our lives, when the Lord calls us out of the boat, we need to trust WHO we are walking with, even if it is on the water. Sometimes we need to call out “Lord, save me,” trusting that His hand will indeed reach for us and lift us out of the sinking reality we are in. This is why I have this image of Jesus in my office, called “The Hand of God” by Yongsung Kim. It is a beautiful reminder that God is always extending His hand toward us…we just need to be humble enough to reach out and receive.
Lord, save me! As Peter made this proclamation to the Lord, I make this to all of you. We need your hand in helping teach others about Jesus. In particular, we are looking for 4th and 5th grade PSR Catechists who are willing to teach the faith to our youth. Ideally, I would like two catechists to cover each classroom. It entails about three Monday evenings a month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. If you are yearning for an opportunity to share the faith—here it is! It is a gift and privilege to share the faith and accompany our youth in their journey with the Lord. Thank you for your response.
