My dog taught me how to pray this week!

This past Tuesday at Mass, I preached on how my dog Blaise recently taught me how to pray.  Never in a million years would I have thought my dog was capable of teaching me this!  Let me share what happened.  Most days, I like to sit with the Lord in the tabernacle in the rectory chapel and pray.  Every time I enter, Blaise hears me and runs into the chapel and almost immediately lays under the tabernacle while I pray.  Here he is below.  But on Monday, he went to his usual area, plopped down under the Lord and immediately let out a deep sigh.  It was then that I realized that’s how true prayer looks like.  Sometimes, when life is hard and you don’t know what to do or say when it comes to praying, simply coming to the presence of the Lord, plopping down and taking a big sigh is the way to go.  As you enter into this week, try this method of praying.  Stop-Plop-Sigh.  It works for my dog.  It worked for me.  It might work for you too!

Mark your calendar for October 8 @ 6:00pm!  Deacon in training, Andy Davis wanted me to share this with you all….

Food for the Journey: Saturday Eucharistic Revival & Discipleship Gathering

On Saturday 10/8/22 immediately following the 5pm mass we will have a gathering for dinner, fellowship and a short talk by our deacon in formation, Andy Davis. This will be the first of several monthly Food for the Journey Gatherings. The event is open to all ages for free food, faith, fun and fellowship.  It will run from 6-7:30pm – come by for what you can. Anyone interested in volunteering for food or setup/cleanup please contact Andy Davis at adavis@stfparish.com or (330) 715-1368.

Please come by and support our Deacon in Training here at the parish.  This is also a great way to engage in this time of Eucharistic Revival within the life of the Church.  I look forward to spending time with you.

Thank You!  A big thank you goes out to all who supported the Color Run on Friday, September 23 for the parish school.  It was a great time and was filled with a lot of excitement and energy.  We raised over $50K!  Thank you for your support!

Convocation.   Fr. David and I will be heading out to the Priestly Convocation this year.  It has been 4 years since we gathered for this due to Covid.  We will be gone from Tuesday, October 4 to Friday, October 7.  We will offer 8:15am morning Mass on Tuesday and evening 6:30pm Anointing Mass on Friday as we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  In between those times, our deacons will celebrate Communion Services at the normal times.  Also, note that Daily Mass will be offered at Ss. Philip and James on 8:00 Wednesday, 8:15 Thursday and 8:00am Friday.  I will pray for you all during those days and look forward to sharing with you the fruits of the talks.

God bless you this week and always!

Fr. Jeremy
