How grateful we all were last weekend when Bishop Perez came to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of our parish school! He reminded us how St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, that we so often hear at weddings regarding what the real love of Jesus Christ is all about (“love is patient, love is kind…”), is exactly what has been lived out for 70 years in our parish in order to keep our school open. He recognized the countless sacrifices that came from the depths of our souls and the beating of our hearts and the sweat of our brows just to provide the educational and spiritual needs of our children. Offer a prayer this week for our school benefactors and legacy alumni, who constantly support the Christian vision of having a parish that offers a day school Catholic education. By the way, did you know this is the time for our school enrollment? If you have ever had an idea about joining our parish school, why not give a call (330-644-0638) to find out more about what we offer in curriculum and spiritual formation? Find out what financial aide is available from one of our benefactors so no child is left behind. Speaking of support for our school, we have our annual Night of Giving coming up Saturday, March 2nd at Guy’s Party Center. This is the biggest fundraiser for our school and we could use your support. Check out the article in this bulletin or call the school to find out what needs we have or how you can help.
This coming week, I have another week of spiritual direction coursework at Mundelein Seminary with the Institute of Priestly Formation. I realize it is hard to put up with how often I need to go away for this certification and training program (three times a year for three years), but it is the desire of our Bishop to provide for the spiritual direction needs of our diocesan priests, deacons, nuns, and those in formation by sending a few away for coursework. It isn’t easy for me to be away this often, but I do believe it is a necessary need for our Church. Pray for me that I may always be open to having my heart beat with His Sacred Heart.
Pax, Fr. Bline
