Proof of The Resurrection
Everywhere I look I am so overjoyed with absolute proof that Jesus Christ is truly Risen! Maybe it’s a little easier to realize Easter’s beauty when your health and life are good. Having to manage pneumonia along with the details of leading Holy Week, helped me to want to truly seek out Resurrection-evidence in our parish life. Have you seen it too this week? The tongues of fire surrounded us as our eighth graders and a couple adults shared in the Gifts of The Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was an amazing rush of the Holy Spirit that day also because we found out our beloved son-of-the-parish, Deacon David Stavarz, received his new assignment for when he is ordained on May 19th. He will soon be the parochial vicar at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor OH 44060). By the way, someone helped us with getting a bus to take a handful of people who are unable to drive to go to the Cathedral for the Priesthood Ordination. It’s on a first come first serve basis, so read about it in the article in this bulletin.
The Holy Spirit rejoiced with our second graders who received their first Holy Communion on Saturday May 4th. Their innocence and excitement calls us back to appreciating every morsel of faith. So why not be a little more like them the next time you go to Church...dress up in your finest, embrace every liturgical gesture of hands prayerfully together-of standing and kneeling and singing and rejoicing that WE actually get to receive Jesus Christ’s Body and Blood/Soul and Divinity. Alleluia!
This week there is further proof of the Resurrection through our PSR (Monday at 7:15p Mass) who invite you to join them for their closing school Mass and May Crowning. If you cannot make it then, our parish day school invites you to join them with their May Crowning during the 9:00 a.m. Mass this Friday (May 10th). It is a beautiful tradition that most places have lost...but not us!
The Resurrection is found in the sacrificial lives of some of our every day parishioners like Deacon Ray Herrick who celebrates his 14th anniversary of ordination. It is also found in Joshua Stecz (soon to graduate from St. Vincent-St. Mary) who has been accepted to Borromeo Seminary and will join us for the next two weeks for his Capstone Project (shadowing). How fitting since Wednesday (8th) is the birthday of St. John Vianney’s birthday (patron of confessors and diocesan priests). Also, this is the first year anniversary of death for of one our daily Mass and Eucharistic Adorers, Jean Drongoski. She faithfully helped secure our Eucharistic Adoration schedule even long before we formally started it. If you think you can fill in for one of her many hours, why not leave a message with Joanne Reich at 330-338-4810? Have a beautiful week and be His proof!
Alleluia, Fr. Bline
