Don’t Give Up The Summer
I know it’s hard to believe we literally have only five weeks of summer left before autumn begins to “fall” upon us. Don’t give it up yet! Enjoy the warmth and extended days of light while we have them by being aware of what’s right in front of us and what’s still coming. This weekend we have Alexander Clark preaching before he heads back to the seminary. We have been blessed to have him with us during these summer days, helping us with the summer bulletin issues, as well as the daily workings of parish life. This is a big year for him since he is preparing to be called to Holy Orders as a transitional deacon in the spring of 2020. Pray for him, as well as our other three seminarians (Ryan Arto, Luke McNeill and Joshua Stecz), who will be returning to the seminary in the next week or so. Especially pray for their parents who have offered their sons to discern how to best receive the love of Jesus so they may humbly serve His Bride, the Church. Pray for the return of our school children who begin classes this Wednesday for a year of coming to know Jesus more profoundly through a life of virtue and learning more of the source and summit of our lives, The Mass. With the return of the school year, our Friday 9:00 a.m. school Mass will also return (for most Fridays). This week is also a week to celebrate Mother Mary’s presence in the life of her children. Wednesday is the feast day of Our Lady of Knock and Thursday is the feast of Mary Queen of Heaven (happy patronal feast day Fr. Durkee and parish). Read up and pray a little bit this week with these two devotionals (www.knockshrine.ie/history and www.franciscanmedia.org/queenship-of-mary or even something about the history of our daughter-church www.queenofheavenparish.org/ourhistory). Make sure you mark your calendars to celebrate Mother Mary’s birthday in a special way by joining us for our annual Parish Picnic on September 8th (12:00-4:00 p.m.). Join us for fun with family and faith. If you would like to help out, please call the rectory to fi nd out how. Through the rest of this month we will be fi nishing up with some of offi cial diocesan protocol and building contractor selections so that we can begin to consider groundbreaking for the Memorare Center. We have been blessed by so many donors who have offered $1,000,000 to date. Wow…Thank you for such a constant and generous support. As you know we still need to seek out some extra funding so we have enough to carry the project to completion, as well as other necessary parish repairs. Please ask Mary Help of Christians for her protection during this time. Hope your summer days are fi lled with grace! Pax, Fr. Bline
